Weingarten Rights

As a union-represented employee (meaning you work in SEA bargaining unit) you have the right to union representation during a meeting that may lead to discipline.

"If this discussion could in any way lead to my being disciplined or change my working conditions, I respectfully request that my union representative be present. Until my representation arrives, I choose not to participate in this discussion."

Some things to note:

  • Admin or supervisor have no obligation to notify you that discipline may occur
  • Employee should state that they wish to have a union representative present prior to the start of the meeting
  • Admin or supervisor must delay the meeting within reason to allow time to obtain representation
